Walk a Path of Peace

Dear Friends,

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luke 2:13-14 (KJV)

Peace on earth

Although it is not normally grouped with the Christmas carols, the worship song “Let There Be Peace on Earth” reminds us that we can choose to walk a path of peace. Our quest is to find a personal peace with God and then share this peace with the world
around us.

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
With peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

Walking a path of peace begins with trusting the Prince of Peace. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3

As a peacemaker, you are a member of the family. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9

And as a member of the family of God, you have access to a peace that surpasses anything the world has to offer. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 (AMP)

During Advent we have looked at the virtues of Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace. Our prayer, with words taken from Romans 15:13, is that the God of hope, who showed his love by sending his Son, will fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Blessings and Merry Christmas,
Your Friends in Christ
